YOUTH PROGRAMS
TEE BALL - Tee Ball is a wonderful experience that often introduces children to organized sports for the first time. Come and learn the basics of hitting, throwing, catching, and basic rules. PARENTS ARE NEEDED TO HELP COACH! Registration starts Monday, March 10. Who: Children ages 4 - 6 When: Saturday Mornings; 10:30am – 11:30am; April 26 – June 7 Fees: Early Bird Registration Fee: Montague Residents = $25, Non-residents = $30 - (Last Day Friday, April 11) Regular Fee: Montague Residents = $30, Non-residents = $35 - (Registrations after Friday, April 11) ****************************************************
ROOKIE LEAGUE BASEBALL - Players broaden their skills through more advanced drills, game strategy, and inter-squad games. Players will be pitched to by the coaches. 1st Graders must have played at least one season of Tee-Ball to be eligible to play. Who: Grades 1 & 2 When: Saturday mornings; 9:00am – 10:15am; April 26 - June 7 Fees: Montague Residents = $35, Non-residents = $40 - (Fees include hat, shirt & pants) Enrollment Minimum & Maximum dependent upon the number of parents who volunteer coach. ****************************************************
ROOKIE LEAGUE SOFTBALL - Similar to Rookie Baseball; we help players broaden their skills through more advanced drills, teaching game strategy, and participating in inter-squad games. Players will be pitched to by the coaches. SENIOR LEAGUE SOFTBALL - All teams participate in league play against area towns in The Small Town League. Games are held in May and June. The skills of the player are further enhanced through more competitive league play. Who: Girls in grades 3 - 6 When: Late March/Early April - Late June - Practices - weekdays at coach’s discretion; League Games - weekdays Fees: Montague Residents = $50, Non residents = $55 - (Fees include hat, shirt & pants) Parents are needed to help coach and umpire - No experience necessary. Training provided. Lack of coaches may result in termination of teams, and lack of umpires may result in cancellation of games.
Baseball & Softball Rookie Leagues & Senior Girls Softball The MPRD Office will be open Saturday, April 5 from 9am – 12pm for registrations and t-shirt/uniform fitting. *All players must be in by April 5 to be fitted for uniforms. Orders will be placed the following Monday, and anyone not sized after that date will automatically receive youth X-Large sizes. **************************************************** top
American Red Cross © BABYSITTING COURSE - This fun, interactive course teaches students first aid, safety skills, and helpful tips on how to prevent & respond to emergencies. Upon completion of the course, participants earn an ARC Babysitter’s Training Certificate. Who: Youths ages 11 – 15 When: Tuesday, June 3 & Wednesday, June 4 Fees: Montague Resident = $40, Non-resident = $45 (Book and first aid kit included with fee) **************************************************** top
INTRO TO TAE KWON DO - Participate in the most popular martial art form in the world! Instructor Gary Newcomb (6th Degree Black Belt) has been teaching Martial Arts for 30 years, and he’ll show you how to get your kicks with one of the coolest sports around. KAYAKING & CANOEING - (Two separate programs). Learn the essentials of recreational kayaking and canoeing– including how to safely launch your craft, power and turning strokes, and a few basic rescues by certified and experienced instructors. Who: Youths - Those under 13 must attend with an adult (also being offered as a Family and Adult Program) When: Canoeing - Saturday, May17; Kayaking - Saturday, May 31 - 10:00am - 4:00pm; Six-hour program Fees: Montague Residents = $65, Non-residents = $70 (per program) **************************************************** top
SWIMMING LESSONS – Session III - Children are encouraged to develop strong swimming skills through our effective learn-to-swim program. Classes for higher levels may be added if there is enough interest. Call for times and dates. BINGO BUDDIES - Bingo, the way it was meant to be played, with a BIG BOARD and a new friend. Pre-registration is required as lunch will be served and space is limited. In partnership with the Gill-Montague Council-On-Aging. WATER AEROBICS - Water aerobics is the performance of aerobic exercise in a swimming pool. Workouts usually combine a variety of techniques from land aerobics along with various arm movements. Who: Adults 18 and Over When: Monday evenings; 6:00pm - 6:45pm; April 7 - June 9 (No class April 21, May 26) Fees: Montague Residents = $65, Non-Residents = $70 **************************************************** Moderate YOGA for Adults - Yoga is an ancient physical and spiritual practice of toning the body & mind for improved health, emotional well-being, and mental clarity. Who: Adults 18 and Over When: Tuesday evenings; 6:00pm – 7:00pm; April 8 - June 3 (No class April 22) Fees: Montague Residents = $40, Non-Residents = $45 ****************************************************
PILATES - Pilates is one of the fastest growing forms of exercise in the world. Pilates dramatically transforms the way your body looks, feels and performs. It builds strength without excess bulk. It teaches body awareness, good posture and easy, graceful movement. Who: Adults 18 and Over When: Wednesday evenings; 6:00pm - 6:45pm; April 9 - June 4 (No class April 23) Fees: Montague Residents = $60, Non-Residents = $65 ****************************************************
GROUP EXERCISE CLASS - The format of this class incorporates several different modalities of exercise taught in a group setting. In this class participants can expect a total body workout that varies week-by-week therefore keeping enthusiasm for exercise at its height. Participants can expect to take part in Hi/Lo Impact Aerobics, Cardio Kickboxing, and Stability Ball Training. Who: Adults 18 and Over When: Thursday evenings; 6:00pm - 6:45pm; April 10 - June 5 (No class April 24) Fees: Montague Residents = $45, Non-Residents = $50 **************************************************** top R.A.D. Program - A partnership with The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office offers no-nonsense, practical techniques of defense through its R.A.D. program, the largest women’s self-defense system in the country. Classes provide basic hands-on self-defense training for women of all ages and abilities. The course is a total of 15 hours (approximately 3 hrs./night, 5 weeks). Who: Females 13 & up. Those under 18 must have a waiver signed by their parents. When: Tuesday evenings; 6:00pm—9:00pm; April 22, 29; May 6, 13, 20 Fees: FREE ****************************************************

Peter Cottontail’s EGGstravaganza Saturday, April 12 @ 1:00pm Unity Park, First Street, Turners Falls
Children ages 4 to 12 are invited to take part in this great community tradition. We’ll have face painting, egg decorating, pictures with Peter Cottontail, a bake sale and our 4th Annual Egg Hunt where kids will have the “challenge” of finding over 5,000 candy and toy-filled eggs throughout Unity Park.
Participants must bring their own basket/bag for the eggs.

You don’t need a metal detector to participate, but if you have one, bring it with you. Who: Anyone is welcome!
