Domestic Violence is a tragedy that touches many lives. You DO NOT have to be a victim! The Montague Police Department wants you to know that you have options, ad somewhere to turn for help. Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 209A, allows for emergency and permanent restraining orders that bar you abuser from continuing to harm you. You have a right to speak to Police at any time regarding a restraining order. If court is not in session (IE: nights, weekends, and holidays) and an emergency order can be issued at any Massachusetts Police department.
