Firearm Permit Procedures

APPLICATION PROCESS FOR LTC & FID

Montague Residents wishing to apply for either a FID or LTC will be given an application form and blue fingerprint card from the Police Department. The applicant must answer all the questions on the application and the fingerprint card and sign where indicated, DO NOT FINGERPRINT YOURSELF. You must print/type legibly or risk the application being rejected by the state.

The Montague Police Department will collect a $25.00 application fee when the application package* is submitted. The fee is non-refundable. At that time an officer will fingerprint, photograph the applicant and have them sign the appropriate FID or LTC. Processing requires 2 photos, which we will take for a fee of $5.00 or you may supply your own. *NOTE: If this is a new application you must also include a certificate of completion from a Firearms Safety Course or Hunter Safety Course.

The applicant should have the completed permit or be advised of a denial within 40 days. You will be called to pick up the permit at the station.
