The purpose of the project is to identify the likely locations of the King Phillip's War (1675-1676) Peskeomskut (Turners Falls) Battlefield and associated sites, including the Native American community Peskeomskut-Wissantinnewag through the examination of documentary records and archeological collections, Tribal and Yankee oral histories, and the use of military terrain analysis.  The project will also engage local officials, landowners and the interested public in efforts to locate and encourage the protection of the battlefield.

Sponsored by the Town of Montague and the National Park Service Battlefield Protection Program
